hurry up Friday!

I am ready for the weekend!

Is Thursday too early for a weekend agenda? I say no! I am waiting for another meeting at work to start tonight and thought I'd spend a little time updating my blog.

Can't wait to get home, get into my pajamas and scrap. My layout for Category Stories is due tonight and I can't wait to get started!

This weekend could be interesting. Got a text from my mama this morning. This automatically makes me worry because my mother works nights. My grandpa is in the hospital. My grandparents are in their late 80's. (But they are both healthy and my grandpa is most definitely "with-it").

He has pneumonia and an inflamed liver. They admitted him to the hospital and are treating him. I hope he feels tons better tomorrow. But if he doesn't, I may make the trek home.

If I don't go home I will probably end up doing some scrapbooking, catching up on DVR'd TV, see The Reader and The Wrestler (they are about all I have left on the list of nominated films), and maybe hang out w/ my crazy nurse friend. Keenan has to work (of course).

BTW I would be remiss if I didn't say: Happy Birthday Bre! It's my bf''s 29th today!

excitement

Soooo....I am quite excited to be chosen as a member of the Category Stories design team!

Just to remind you, there is a great prompt going on there right now for the month of January: "I remember". It's not too late to participate and there is a prize from www.scrapinstyletv.com the deadline is January 31st. Hope you check it out!

boredom ensues...

Create your own FACEinHOLE

art journaling saturday night....

I am already in my jammies at 7 pm on a Saturday night, but I am finally warm and enjoying hot cocoa and some creativity. Keenan's at work and so are my KC friends so it's time to break out the art supplies and the Irish creme cocoa (and my cuddle duds, which i own due to the ingenuity and northern-sense of my Minnesotan friend Martha)

I am participating in a new challenge. I did the art journal at Tallyscrapper.com last year and Rachel Whetzel is awesome enough to host it again. This year is explained here. I am doing my abc words on playing cards using the lyrics to some of my favorite songs. Here are my first two prompts. January is completed (prompts were: action & because). Can't wait to see what prompts February will bring! Anyone can join, it's totally free and you don't have to be a scrapbooker, any medium is welcome.

The action lyric comes from the Martin Sexton song Hallejuah. And the because prompt comes from one of my all-time favorite songs (anna begins) by my all-time favorite band (the counting crows). (And yes, that is purple duct tape...I think I am in love.)

beautiful day.

There is so much to say on a day like today. And so much is said by the silences. if you are a follower of the blog, or a friend of mine you know that i have been hoping for and working toward today since even before Mr. Obama announced that he would indeed be a candidate for 2008. I automatically just began typing "Senator Obama" and became elated all over again that "Senator Obama" is now "Mr. President"!

I have so many things I should update about that I think I will do a bulleted list rather than drone on for paragraph upon paragraph and then I will post the pics soon.

  • Keenan threw me a surprise party for my birthday. It was wonderful. Thank-u to those of u who were able to make it. Plus I got some fab gifts!

  • Keenan was honored to accept an honorarium to be a guest presenter and actor at the American Collegiate Theatre Festival's Central Region conference in Lawrence at KU.

  • I got to see Keenan do a reading of the winner of this year's Rosa Parks Playwright's Award (great play)and meet the playwright who is fab.

  • Keeping our fingers crossed that said great play turns into a great job for this spring!

  • Anxiously awaiting Keenan getting home from Lawrence and watching the season premiere of LOST.

  • Tons of meetings this week at work and working on a proposal to start doing some drama therapy for young children w/ autism! Very exciting.

  • Totally enjoyed my 3 day weekend and think that all weekends should be that long, although I can't decide if I would want to have Friday or Monday off.

  • Saving $ for a trip in late March to NY for a very important audition, as well as a girls' get-away this summer in Texas.
  • Spent some quality time in the hotel hot tub reading the Sookie Stackhouse series. Pure.Guilty.Pleasure.

category stories

This is my humble submission to the design team call at a great challenge blog I recently found: category stories These were designed for the prompts "phone" "decorate" & "i remember"

movie-nut

The weekend review...

I did get my pedicure, saw Slumdog Millionaire (excellent film) and saw Gran Torino (liked it), went to taco night (although I ate a spinach salad), walked/shopped around the plaza, scrapbooked a little, bought a new canon all-in-one photo printer/copier/scanner (although my reasoning behind that upsets me) and got caught up on a little weekly tv.

Had to take my migraine meds Friday evening, Saturday evening and Sunday evening. There are some fronts working in and out of the middle of the country right now that are making it hard to see straight. Going to the neuro on Wednesday, hoping my bp is low enough to start a new daily medication, which hopefully will help me.

Hoping to see The Reader on Tuesday and then I will only have a couple movies left (Rachel Getting Married, Revolutionary Road, I've Loved You So Long & The Wrestler) to see that are Oscar contenders. Little disappointed in the GG's last night. Only because I was really wanting to see Sean Penn or Frank Langella win best actor in a drama, rather than Mickey Rourke. Of course, I haven't seen The Wrestler yet, but I am still thinking those two (Penn & Langella) will be my faves. Was happy for Ms. Winslet, although I haven't seen either of her movies yet either. But she is a class act and a great role model for women. Out of the female performances I have seen I loved Viola, Amy & Meryl in Doubt and Angelina in Changeling. I really need to see those female-heavy performance movies in the next couple weeks.

On the downside of this weekend, I did not get any work done. This makes for a manic monday. Time to face the music, now. ugh.

The door to the year: January

I have fallen off the weekend agenda wagon (not to mention the blogging wagon)...here is my attempt to get back on it.

I have a lot of paperwork for work due on Tuesday...so unfortunately I will be writing behavior plans this weekend, for some of the weekend. Fortunately behavior plans are one of my favorite parts of my job! Sometimes I wish I could live many lives so that I could have many occupations. Let me digress a moment...Here are my top 5 other occupations I would have:

5. Medical examiner (yep for real)
4. Lawyer (although I suck at arguing a point I don't agree w/)
3. Lollipop salesperson (ask my mama, this was the profession I told my mom I would really like to have, and it still holds true to a point, although rent would be difficult to make).
2. Behavior Analyst
1. It's a tie between things I could still achieve in this lifetime: Writer, College Professor, Teacher

Okay, back to my weekend. Plans include:

  • pedicure w/ one crazy nurse (I haven't had one since Matt's graduation weekend: May 11th)
  • hoping desperately that the 70 degree day today and the 20 degree day tomorrow will not put me out of commission (please Frova, please work).
  • hopefully a hair appointment to cut my overgrown bangs
  • listening to Dave call the KW/Bethany bball game and wish I was there to watch Tay dance
  • cybercrop (scrapbooking for those of you who don't speak the language) on Tallyscrapper plus online chatting w/ my bff Bre
  • Buying Lost season 4 and remembering how much I love it just in time for the premiere of Season 5 (see ticker to the upperleft)
  • Slumdog Millionaire & maybe The Reader
  • Taco night at Fric & Frac
  • a little thrifting possibly
  • watching the playoff games and hoping Philip Rivers loses (sorry Shirley) & Eli wins (sorry Bre) although I got nothing but love for you Darren Sproles (in case u read this) and by the way I typed that you may think that I think the Giants and the Chargers are playing each other, I don't, actually. That's just who I am rooting and not rooting for this weekend, other teams and games I don't really care so much for.
  • catching up on the DVR'd stuff- Top Chef, SVU, L&O, & Nancy Grace (I know, but I am somehow addicted to this sensationalized Casey Anthony case)
  • making plans for my birthday next week
  • most likely laundry because socks in the winter are important

Have a wonderful weekend yourself.

day one

Day one, day one
Start over again
Step one, step one
I'm barely making sense
For now I'm faking it
'Til I'm psuedo-making it
From scratch, begin again
~alanis

it is january. the year of 29.

resolved...

this year i will finish paying off my credit cards. i started doing this in november and this year it will be done.

i began this resolution earlier but i think i may have a few more goals this year as well. they haven't come to me yet though. ha. i did a quiz on blogger that said i should try to reduce my stress level overall this year. yep. i should. and most likely this is a good goal for anyone reading this.

good luck w/ your resolutions and with the first day of the rest of the year.
