You might as well face it, you're addicted to...

So apparently among all the disaster in our world there is something so controversial and terrible it warrants our media attention...

A 5 year old Suri Cruise still sucking on a pacifier.

to this controversy/discussion I say: Really? Seriously, you would think she was sucking on a hand grenade as heated as this discussion has gotten, or that the picture was of Katie and Tom shooting her up with herion through her peep toe custom made Louboutin baby heels.

I realize I am not an orthodontist and it looks a little silly but I really don't know what the big deal is. Devil's advocate Sigmund Freud would say if you take it away before they are ready you face psychological problems later. All of my siblings had pacifiers or finger sucking until around age 2 and 1/2 of us had braces and the other half had perfect jaws/teeth.

Maybe I am just sensitive to the issue: I loved my pacifier(s) (I slept with two so that I would have a back-up, see I've always been a planner) until age 2 when I had to have a funeral for them and throw them in our trash (I missed them hardcore at night for quite awhile but my parents stuck to their guns and probably wished for earplugs to drown out my cries).

And I know one day I will have a sad little face to explain why she can no longer have her "best friend".

We learned in nursing school that after about 9 months it's no longer a "comfort" object but a habit & thus becomes harder to break. Sooo my children will not still be sucking on pacifiers at 5 years old... but to each their own.

paci's are much better to be attached to than little thumbs.. can't throw those cuties in the trash. ;) I guess I'm just amazed I didn't realize Suri was already five years old. :)
